| Licence/User Updates FAQ
If you purchase additional modules or extra users, these will be supplied in the form of an Expansion Disk. In the case of the purchase of extra users, both Modulus and 4D Expansion Disks will be supplied.
REGISTERING ADDITIONAL USERS - MODULUS SERVER
First load Modulus Server in the usual fashion. Then, go to the File menu and select 'Update Licence...'. Insert each of the 4D (not Modulus) Expansion Disks in turn. If you have purchased extra users for 4D Write, you should register these in the same manner at the same time. Click [OK] when you have finished. Next follow the instructions in the next section using the Modulus Expansion Disks.
REGISTERING ADDITIONAL USERS AND MODULES - SINGLE-USER AND MODULUS CLIENT
This section should be followed if you have purchased extra modules and/or you have purchased additional users which have already been registered in Modulus Server using the 4D Expansion Disks. First, if you have purchased additional modules, remove the .res and .rex files from each workstation. On a Macintosh, these will be in the ACI folder inside the Preferences Folder in the System Folder. On a Windows 95 machine, they will be in the ACI directory in the Win95 directory. On a Windows NT machine, they will be in the ACI directory in the WinNT.351 directory. You do not need to do this if you have purchased extra users only.
Load Modulus Client in the usual fashion on any workstation (this process only needs to be run from a single machine). Once you have gained access, go into the Data Manager and select 'Update Licence' on the Core menu. Click the [Disk Update] button to add your new modules or extra users. Modulus will check whether a 'Modulus Update' disk is in the drive (if you are a Windows user, the A: drive should be used). If no disk is found, you will be asked to insert it. Insert the Modulus Expansion Disk, not any 4D Expansion Disk that may have been supplied.
Once the disk has been read, a message will appear confirming the additions to your Modulus licence. You can then press the [Modules] button to confirm that the additions to your system are now present or just press [OK] to return to using Modulus. Remember that you may need to allocate Personnel/Personnel Group access to any new modules or companions in order to make full use of them.
Occasionally, you may also need to enter a new Licence Number and/or Validation Code. This can also be done from the Update Licence screen. Enter these as appropriate and press [OK]. You will then be asked to log in to Modulus once more. Remember that both codes are case sensitive. |
